Gary Young

Born and raised in Rochester, NY and Camden, SC. Both parents were amongst some of the top professional horse trainers in the country and produced numerous famous hunters and jumpers throughout their careers.

Gary started in the family business in the late 1970's as a junior rider. Some of the highlights of his junior career were winning the "McClay Equitation Finals" in New York City in 1979, the Junior Jumper Championship at the WIHS in 1978 and 1979 as well as being a member of the Young Riders Team at Gladstone in 1980.

In the 1980's he took various contracts abroad in Monterey, Mexico and Liege, Belgium showing jumpers in national and international competitions. He was a member of the USET Nations Cup Team showing in France, Luxembourg, Italy, Holland, Sweden and Germany and was part of the American Team winning the "Gucci Trophy Nations Cup" at the CSIO in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1989.

Throughout the years to this date, he won numerous championships, reserves and top placings in hunter divisions nationwide as well as at the Pennsylvania Horse Show and WIHS. He achieved winnings and high place ribbons in jumper divisions all around the country from level jumpers and Young Jumper Championships in South Hampton through Grand Prix Level.

In addition to his riding, he trained renown riders as Laura Kraut, Holly Orlando, and Megan Edrick to win Hunter and Jumper Championships at Indoors as well as at Pony Finals in California. Over the years, he has had many horses and equitation riders qualify for the McClay Finals and AHSA Medal Finals.

Besides being consistently present at A and AA show circuit throughout the country and at Indoors, for the last ten years he has also been importing a great selection of quality show horses-from young to made- from Europe and South America for private clients and investment syndicates.
